Giga-what?
Here are some specifications (units) you may run into while shopping for hard drives:
- Capacity (GB): the amount of data a drive can store, measured in billions of bytes. Typical sizes are 40-300GB (nb: see DriveShowsUpSmaller).
- Spindle speed (rpm): the speed at which a drive's internal platters spin, in revolutions per minute. Typical speeds are 5400-15,000rpm.
