Ooh, pretty pictures
Light commentary, I'm tired...
Flesh tones always bring out background noise, but a little noise never hurt anyone. Impressive.
Is that DV chroma artifacting I see on the couch? For shame, ye local video production hacks! Compro 1, Bassett 0.
If we were going to see Y/C problems, it would be in this shot. Are there colors bleeding into that angled text? Blow it up 4X and you'll see it's actually just a dither effect -- the white pixels are right where they should be, and are pure white (ok, off-white). Impressive.
Maybe I'm weird, but I capture mostly interlaced sources. The perfectionist in me hates not being able to conjure back up a pure full-framed clip, but what's a sports fan to do. Luckily, even if you have to step down to the field level, the Compro's picture quality is right there with ya.
Proof that it's just as adept at CG, despite what the example in
WeatherMapRoundup might have you think. Even here, I think it's easier to spot the limitations in their chroma-keying than the limitations in my A/D process.
More CG. Probably the easiest shot to see digitization flaws in, yet you can hardly call the effect "posterization" or anything so ugly.
Dunno why this image deserves to be last, aside from looking plain good. Oh yeah, the list is alphabetical order. That'll do it.
These reviews all center on raw performance out of the box. In real life, we like
TweakingLevels once we actually own the thing. More fun awaits, especially if you've never seen the elegant Compro dialog in person.
Have at it!
